Field Notes

Description:

House Finches ( the one flying) forage on the ground or in vegetation normally.
They primarily eat grains, seeds and berries, being voracious consumers
of weed seeds such as nettle and dandelion; included are incidental small insects such as aphid.

Song Sparrows ( the one in the bird feeder) thrive in human areas, such as in suburbs, along edges in agricultural areas, and along roadsides. There are a lot in the bird feeders in my back yard.
