Field Notes

Description:

Pale green Plant hopper of about 1 cm in length. I followed it about as it hopped-flew from place to place. Family Flatidae.

Habitat:

Plants on a street, semi-urban area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Thank you Agnes, it does look very much like Flatormenis proxima and the lack of distribution in Mexico may just be a lack of study since many insects in Florida are also in southern Mexico. I put mine side-by-side with the picture of F. proximal and the venation, while similar doesn't match too well. I don't know if that means anything.
Looks a lot like Flatormenis proxima (= Anormenis chloris, the Northern Flatid Planthopper). But Mexico is not in the distribution list of F. proxima according to this site - http://ag.udel.edu/enwc/research/planthoppers/families/species/Flatormenis.htm.
