Field Notes

Description:

We came across this baby nine-banded armadillo on a path in an Ecuadorian cloud forest (mature and secondary rainforest). It seemed confused and without its mother. Normally, you can only catch a glimpse of these animals, while this little guy was standing in the middle of the path for a while before running closely past us. It even ran over one of my boots, which is not shown on the photos.

Habitat:

The nine-banded armadillo can be found in scrublands, open prairies and tropical rainforests.
