Common Yellowthroat
Geothlypis trichas
41.6265, -73.4323
Field Notes
Description:
Typical multitasking mom! She had at least three bugs in her beak in these shots, and was furiously busy flying around the meadow, collecting food, feeding her nestlings, and visiting her mate.
<br><br>
Females have olive-gray coloring on their wings and backs. Yellow coloring on their chest and a faint eye ring. They lack the black mask that males have.
Habitat:
In a large open meadow.
Notes:
This female was busy collecting food and kept flying to and from a large pile of brush where a male Common Yellowthroat waited - watching over their nest. The spotting for the male is here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1444661415
