This is actually a male Lone Star tick, not a Deer tick. Nice spotting, looks like a big one!
Great. As if I wasn't paranoid enough about ticks around my kids' swingset, they're Lyme disease carrying massive deer ticks too. And this one was found on me and promptly flung into the rocks in a hilarious ninja move.
