Field Notes

Description:

The male has a black back and head, white breast, and ruddy brown sides. The female looks similar, but has a light brown back and head as opposed to black. The male has a distinctive "DRINK-your-TEA" song, with the last note (which starts higher and descends) lasting longer.

Habitat:

Woodland with shrubby understory.

Notes:

I did not hear the Towhee performing its song, only the short "chwink" call. No females were present.
