Description:
One of the fastest striking snakes, Sind Saw-scaled Viper have a characteristic threat display. They're rightly named for its unique behaviour of coiling and mutually rubbing its scales on the flank that produce the sound of 'working of a saw' when threatened.
Habitat:
The diversified habitat of the Great Indian Thar Desert comprises of vast stretches of sand in the desert that are interspersed by rocky hillocks, scrubs, sandy and gravel plains. The natural vegetation in this arid region is considered a thorn scrub forest occurring in small clumps scattered more or less openly. These clumps are great sources of food and shelter for these Vipers.
