Field Notes

Description:

Blotched Blue-tongued skink. Very similar to the banded blue-tongue, only with broken stripes.

Habitat:

Dry sclerophyll and native grassland.

Notes:

This skink was injured, so we took her inside to recuperate. She was released a month later.

Early NOAH only allowed one photo per spotting, so I've been going back and adding some more. Here's four more of Betty and her very blue tongue.

Hi Peter, I've just added another member of the blue-tonged skinks, this one is called a Shingleback. It looks like a pine cone with a head on either end. And it has a blue tongue as well. The Blotched blue tongues are just about ready to come out of hibernation and I expect to find them in our yard soon.
