Field Notes

Description:

Soft-stemmed short herb. blue-mauve flowers that are butterfly magnets.

Habitat:

Grows wild on the grassy verges, under trees, in neglected areas. it is treated as a weed by the staff of the Municipal Corporation who uproot it along with the grass.

Notes:

Also called Florida Bluebells, Mexican Petunia, and Mexican Blue Bells I understand it is NOT related to the garden variety of Petunia.
