Field Notes

Description:

Soft, stick like stems can be 2-5 ft tall. Stems are smooth brown outside, but orange inside. Bulbs, are the main interest of use. Although leaves are also used for flavor. Leaves are long and narrow. I did not see the flowers. But flowers do blossom. Has a very good herbal value. unripe (raw) bulbs of Haldi (Turmeric) are widely used for the benefit of skin. also eaten in small amount for the benefit of internal organs like abdominal organs too. Dried, dusted turmeric is an useful ingredient in cooking.
