Field Notes

Description:

A colorful leafhopper nymph, this member of the genus Scaphoideus resembles a navy blue shrimp with a white stripe down the middle, red eyes, red abdominal bands, a white underside and legs, and some bristly hairs on the abdomen.

Habitat:

Found hopping around a deciduous forest with shrubs, mainly Blackberry (Rubus sp.).
