Field Notes

Description:

Small, slender wasps, about 8-10 mm in body length, marked as shown. Note wings are folded longitudinally.

Habitat:

Several females nesting in old beetle borings in a cottonwood log near stream. Habitat is riparian with open fields, scattered trees, milkweed, cattails, etc.

Notes:

The wasps were being harassed by cuckoo wasps (Chrysididae).
