Field Notes
Description:
This globular nest was constructed (as far as I could see...it was very high up) of interwoven strands of dry grass or straw.
Habitat:
The tall casurina trees were very attractive sites for these yellow-headed sparrow-like birds. Many birds had their nests close to one another's. This was part of a very large campus of a government institute which had been set up in an area that was semi-wooded and surrounded by agricultural land.
Notes:
The photos were taken while walking from the guest house to and from the conference hall. These may or maynot have been taken on the same date but this was the only place on the campus where I saw these birds. I have been there many times over the last few years and always, the casurina trees is where the Baya weavers here, nest.
