Treehoppers
Atymna querci
41.6607, -91.5302
Field Notes
Description:
Check out this sexual dimorphism - they look like they would be another species! Many members of this family of treehoppers are sub-social, and make low frequency calls (infra-sounds) that humans can not hear. They communicate to their young, and to each other in this manner. Several species have small colonies on branches, and they help each other raise offspring.
Notes:
They were mating on my car.
