I had never seen a walkingstick on the underside of a log before.

Both the northern (Anisomorpha ferruginea) and the southern (Anisomorpha buprestoides) occur in Texas, and I don't think they can be differentiated by your image. It's better to just go with the genus as your listing. Nice find! :-)
