Description:

This insect was on the side of the stone which the previous spottings' butterfly was sitting in so I cropped it out.

Habitat:

Limestone outcrop in foothills of los Serranos mountains.

Haha! Thanks Paul. I had it as a Hover-fly and got 2 comments that it was a Potter Wasp so changed it, as neither are in my built-in knowledge base!

This is a Hoverfly ,not a wasp ,probably---Migrant Hoverfly - Eupeodes corollae.It is difficult to be certain of the species from the image .Most hoverflies are wasp mimics ,to a certain extent.

Thanks both. If I read the reference correctly ( http://insectoid.info/taxo.php ) there are 29 species in 9 genera in Iberia.
