Field Notes

Description:

'A widespread and common species, found from India to south China; and south through peninsular Malaysia to Borneo, Sumatra, Java and Bali.'

Habitat:

road through forest

Notes:

This species was probably the highlight for me out of all the puddling butterflies. There were a lot of butterflies around but these shots weren't easy to get. I walked up to a large gathering of butterflies puddling and they all flew up in the air. Then I lied down with my camera facing their puddling spot about 30cm (1') away and just waited. It was uncomfortable to say the least on the rocky and hot road but after a few minutes the butterflies came back and it was all worth it.
