It may be a lotus but since the leaves are (still) floating as opposed to having grown above the water surface, I'm not sure. It looks like there may be both lily and lotus leaves in your photo...The view of the center of the flower kind of looks like lotus, but its not very clear in the photo. STOP PRESS. I zoomed in on your flower's center and I am making a species suggestion. It is a lotus.
Confusing? Nymphaea lotus is a water lily. There are many species of water lily in the genus Nymphaea. Nelumbo (2 species) is the genus for the lotus that resemble water lilies. The genus Lotus does not look like a water lily. Water lilies have leaves that float and are (usually) split. Lotus leaves will eventually rise off the water surface and are not split.
And secondly, Nymphaea is the genus for Lily, while Nelumbo is the genus for Lotus... That may explain the difference.. Though I am myself very confused about it..
