Slender Bluets (mating)
Enallagma traviatum
38.865, -75.3935
Field Notes
Description:
Two pairs of Damselflies mating (I don't know what sub-species they are). The pair on the left were there for a few minutes before the second pair (right) landed. After the second pair landed, the first pair proceeded to move under the lily pad. There was a third pair that kept flying by the same lily pad but didn't land in the 5 - 10 minutes I observed. There are a few dozen lily pads in the area, so I'm not sure why they found this one in particular so appealing.
Habitat:
Lily pads in shallow water at edge of pond.
