Field Notes

Description:

Small, dark caterpillars with yellowish markings along the center of the dorsum. Hairy. Early instar. Late instar caterpillars, pupa and adult male moth images can be found in an earlier spotting of mine: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/10771232

Habitat:

Sears Bellows County Park, New York. Wooded campground.

Notes:

Invasive and destructive species. The little yellowish specks are pine pollen.
