Lime Hawk Moth
Mimas Tiliae
51.4673, -0.120915
Field Notes
Description:
Beautiful woody green and peachy pink, the photo doesn't do it justice.
Quite large with raggedy wings. Large fuzzy body.
Habitat:
Usually found in light woodland, parks and gardens, associated with limes, elms, and other trees.
Notes:
Normally around at night, I rescue this handsome chap from a blue tit who had found him and had him on the pavement.
My book tells me they're not especially mobile which ties in with the fact he was reluctant to move.
He was carefully moved off the pavement and into the tree roots foliage and new growth.
