Field Notes

Description:

As these limpets slowly moved and ate the algae on the bottom of this tide pool they left a cleared trail showing the path that each individual limpet took, creating a sort of abstract art that maybe only Koko the gorilla could appreciate. I thought it was pretty cool. The second pic is a tide pool only a few feet from the other one. This limpet has a highly variable shape and coloration depending on its habitat.

Habitat:

Spotted in a tide pool at a rocky beach.

If Koko the gorilla can appreciate this, who am I to criticize 😊 Their "homing behavior" and the idea of them returning to their home scar and the shell growing to fit that place is really interesting <https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limpet> It would be cool to see if these do that. Great shots Brian.
It would be interesting if I go back to this tide pool in a month and take a picture at the same place and angle.
