Description:

An AMAZING Green Bug with a Blue shine, and Golden feet!
About 7 cm.

Habitat:

On our gate near jungle and mangroves. Just after some rain, (rainy season ) at 13.35. Phuket, Thailand.

Notes:

Isn't he gorgeous! He/She was sitting on our gate when I spotted him/her. It flew off onto a leaf, all shiny and precious! When I was taking the pictures on the leaf he started to lift his hind legs!!!! Why? A defense posture?

What an incredible insect! Very impressive photo.
:-) Thank you! I did not have a camera with me, just my phone! So I took a few shots with my phone (1,2,5,6) and ran in to get my camera. Can you believe the quality on that phone camera! Such a handsome beetle also. Love his "shoes" :-)
It's beautiful and looks like an insect here in North Carolina, the dogbane beetle: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/11965245
Maybe he/she didn't want to get his/her feet wet?! Maybe getting ready to unfurl wings but decided to stay awhile longer? GORGEOUS bug and great photo series by the way! :-)
There are many common names for this species, you can choose. I like Frog-legged Leaf Beetle. It also comes in many color forms.
