Field Notes

Description:

Low growing, evergreen shrub with simple oblong leaves that grow in whorls. Deep pink, saucer-shaped flowers that grow in clusters around the stem. These flowers haven't quite bloomed yet.

Habitat:

Sears Bellows County Park, New York. Woodlands within the park. Mostly Oak and Pine.

Notes:

Poisonous to livestock. Considered Exploitably Vulnerable in New York State.
