Field Notes

Description:

Largest ones about 90mm across and 90mm tall. Flat, furry, dark brown caps with dark chocolate brown gills on a thin, brittle hollw brown stipe. Mycelium showing around the base. No signs of annulus or veils. Dark spores?

Habitat:

In a short grass clearing surrounded by mostly eucalyptus. A local nature reserve.

Notes:

"Weeping widow" Lacrymaria lacrymabunda possibly introduced. Possibly Lacrymaria velutipes. Confusion exists down-under in Australia. http://naturewatch.org.nz/taxa/50190-Lacrymaria-lacrymabunda <br>

The mottled gills and the somewhat fuzzy cap point to Lacrymaria, not sure which species you get in Australia though.

Two conjoined? stipes as they go to ground with mycelia exposed. Yes these are something I haven't seen before.. so flat so furry.
I can't quite make out what it is I'm looking at in the last photo. Help :-/
