Field Notes

Description:

This attractive dwarf Dandelion from the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden, forms small rosettes of red, almost black foliage. It has short-stemmed, yellow, Dandelion flowers. Not too invasive as it produces only a few seeds.

Included are photos of purple leaves when young, mature leaves, flower, developing seedpod, and seeds.

Habitat:

Garden

Notes:

This is a Perennial, and 1st year leaves were purple-red, however 2nd year leaves started to lighten to dark green/ with splotches of purple. I do not know if this is due to my climate differing from it's native area.
