Description:

Once a very common sight in towns around the UK this beautiful little bird is now on the endangered list. House sparrows nest in small crevices and used to team in the guttering of houses throughout spring and summer. Unfortunately now almost all guttering has been covered meaning this species have very few nesting opportunities and numbers have declined by over 60% in the last four years.

Habitat:

Villages, particularly in coastal areas as are prone to dust bathing.

Notes:

Male pictured here, the female is slightly less bright without the dark cap.
