Actually, it's Melozone crissalis not Pipilo -- the name seems to have changed recently.
It's chirp sounds like a rusty door, right? And it is orange under the rump, but the red in tis picture is from the flower. Here's another one for comparison: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/10794877
Now, was the breast really red or is it just a reflection from the flower? I'll look through my North American book, see what I can find.
