Field Notes

Description:

Adult male is bright red all over with a tan, thick bill.

Habitat:

In a field in piney woods. I was just standing outside the bunkhouse when first a female flew and landed about 10 ft away on this fence. By the time I got my camera up, she flew off. But before I could get disappointed about it, this nice male came and took her place and stayed for a few seconds :)

There is nothing evil about snakes. They are a very important part of the ecosystem, as are most animals, and there is no reason to be afraid of them. They mind their own business if you leave them alone, and like any other animal, if you mess with them they will try to defend themselves. So respect them enough to leave them alone and they will do the same for you :)
Very good photo of a bird. I cant imagine how you work with snakes. I cant even look at photo's of them. Did you know that snakes in dreams are representing sin or evil or danger in all cultures around the world. I suppose someone has to learn about the snakes but not me THANK GOD.
Beautiful coloring! I am so envious of this one!
