Field Notes

Description:

Aquatic plant with yellow, cup-like flowers. Flowers often grow above the water level. Leaves float on the surface of the water and are oval to heart shaped with a V-shaped notch at the base.

Habitat:

Sears Bellows County Park, New York. Bellows Pond.

Notes:

Seeds and roots are edible, though roots can be very bitter. Native to North America.
