Field Notes

Description:

Small New World warbler. Distinctive orange throat and around the eye coloring. Most blackish grey back with a breast similar in colouration to a male yellow warbler... Yellow with red streaks.

Habitat:

Spotted this one foraging Ina gravel path in a densely forested area. A real mix of deciduous and coniferous trees and scrub brush. Lots of places for nests but didn't see one.

Notes:

I saw a female or an immature one. Similar in most respects except lacking the orange throat and around the eye coloring.

Actually, it is Setophaga fusca, and Blackburnian Warbler - note the correct spelling, very important on a database such as this.
I completely agree with you and Ashley. Nice shot. Always fun to see. The scientific name is "Steophaga fusca" if you want to add it. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Blackburnian_Warbler/id
