Description:

I don't see what is bad about this gorgeously unique moth! Collectors claim this moth has a wing shape which makes it hard for them to position for pinned display. The genus name is Greek for "Bad Wing," with "Dys" meaning bad, and "pteris" meaning wing. The meaning of the species name abortivaria is disputed, but many think it refers to attempts made to pin the moth, which have been aborted.

Notes:

Lifer! This one is one of my favorites!
