Field Notes

Description:

Growing at a curve out of the ground and brown all over. Gills look to be spongy. I saw it every day for a few days and it grew larger, started to crack all over and show its white insides, then was gone. I assume something ate it.

Habitat:

Next to the road in a mostly oak forest.

Species ID Suggestions

Peppery Bolete

Chalciporus piperatus
