This gray and brown lizard was spotted near Little Pine Island.

That is what it looked like. Maybe a bit larger. The child holding it in the picture was probably around 8 or nine, so it is hard to judge its size by looking at the hand. Now I'm wondering where it ended up. Thanks for your help guys.

Well, it wasn't really frightened, so if it was someone's pet that would explain it. This is a camping area and kids were all fascinated and playing with it. It was pretty small for a dragon, probably only 6 inches.
I'm with Tyler. The only lizard listed for Michigan is the five-lined skink. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-153-10370_12145_12201---,00.html
I'm pretty sure that's a Bearded Dragon.. They're actually native to Australia, and have no business being in the wild in Michigan. He must be an escaped or released pet. Strange.
