Field Notes

Description:

This pale brown, 4.5 - 6 mm big shieldbug has a distinctively broad and laterally expanded connexivum and a very rounded head. Males are able to stridulate loudly. Nymphs (June-August) are associated with Mouse-eared Hawkweed and Potentilla species, which are thought to be the hostplants. The new generation of adults is complete from August onwards but probably it also depends on a location, this information are given for Britain while the south of Europe reaches this temperatures much earlier and gives this bugs to develop earlier. This one was especially attracted to my hair and was flying few times in it :D it didn't left anything bad smelling!

Habitat:

There are found in sandy areas, brownfield sites and warm, sheltered slopes on calcareous grassland.
