Description:

Smallish (14-17 cm) perching bird, with brilliant red head and underparts, black back, wings and tail.

Habitat:

Desert riparian areas, mesquite bosques.

Notes:

This individual is a frequent morning visitor in our neighborhood park, sometimes accompanied by its mate.
