Description:
A small, monophorphic and monogynous ant native to Europe. Considered a pest in the U.S. Outcompetes native ants in developed areas, and is thus important for understanding urban ecology.
Habitat:
Thrives in areas disturbed by human development, e.g. sidewalks, the edges of cleared fields, and house foundations.
