Field Notes

Description:

A swarm of termites which attracted a swarm of dragonflies.

Habitat:

Mixed forest - primarily pine and oak.

Notes:

Termites were swarming out of an old decayed log when we first arrived. Within 10 minutes, there were thousands of dragonflies grabbing them right out of the air. A privilege to watch. I took a short video as well that I will try to link.

I could not even consider taking these photos. A little pocket camera has it's limitation. These are great, and excellent clarity. Great story too.
