Field Notes

Description:

This one was standing guard, but I didn't realize it until I accidentally got too close to the nest. These guys will make you run! There are also Aleutian terns reported in this area, but the Arctic ones stand out with their orange beaks and feet.

Habitat:

Coastal tundra. Nest was right beside the road :-(

Notes:

These never cease to amaze me. Such little birds for such a big journey every year.
