Field Notes

Description:

Very large Noctuid (Erebidae) Moth. The body length was 3 cm and the wingspan 8 cm. Two individuals were present, I don't know if they represent the male and the female or just two color variants. The 5th picture was taken on 27 October 2013.

Habitat:

Came to the parking lights of a shopping mall, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Thank you bayucca. I'll wait for your decision on the species. L. buteo looks really variable, but one of them looks like mine, especially with the little circles in the upper wings.
