Field Notes

Description:

With the hen sitting the nest, the male was understandably trying to divert our attention from the nest.

First osprey nest I've seen in oregon built in a tree

Habitat:

Between highway and narrow lake

Notes:

It seems late(the eagles are fledging their chicks now) but most of the osprey appear to be sitting eggs. This was the 5th nest we took a good look at. The hen is able to completely hide in the nest, which is amazing for such big bigs

Thank you! It was so thrilling to be this close. It's a route we take fairly often so I'm hoping to have chick pics too
