To my knowledge there is only Lepidodes gallopavo, no in the genus Baecula, so Baecula gallopavo. Erebidae, Calpinae. https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1674099217
Okay! Hopefully we can get more insight into this gorgeous moth, then!
The only information I could find about L. cornifrons is unfortunately just a record in BOLDsystems that does not have an accompanying photograph. Does the checklist also provide information about distinguishing L. cornifrons?
Great, thank you Jakubo! Piñas, F. 2005a, Mariposas del Ecuador, Vol. 22. Fam: Noctuidae does not list Lepidodes gallopavo, but the similiar L. cornifrons.
I have seen it once, but can't remember where it was...
Fantastic moth and pictures Andreas. Amazing camouflage too.
Stunning !! If that was sitting on a log it could pass for a crust fungi.
Unusual and very beautiful. Lovely series too - Thanks Andreas !
