Field Notes

Description:

Black head and neck with white "chinstrap", brown-on-white body plumage, white underbelly. Although similar in appearance to the Canadian Goose, it is smaller in size with a head that is more squarish.

Habitat:

Small body of water near a larger lake on McChord AFB in Washington state.

Notes:

Red collar marked P6 and a band on the right leg on one of the birds, presumably to track this particular flock.
