Description:

Xylaria polymorpha, dead man's fingers, often grows in finger-like clusters from the base of a tree or from wood just below ground level. This is a primary fungus utilized in the spalting of sugar maple and other hardwoods.

Notes:

This was less than 1" tall, beautiful blue and white top fungi.

Thank you very much for identify my spotting Mark Ridgway. I truly appreciate your help. I don't like the sound of "Dead Man's Fingers," especially on Father's Day! I used "stag's horn" instead ;-)
