Field Notes

Description:

Very large chunky white bird with an orange bill and feet. The lower bill forms of pouch to catch and aid in swallowing fish. This bird has to run across the water while flapping its wings to gain flight. This individual has a strucure on it's upper bill that is characteristic of male white pelicans.

Habitat:

Lakes and rivers and coastal saltwater habitats

Notes:

Over the years these birds have rested here off and on for some time. In the last few years this seems to be happening more frequently than in the past.
