Field Notes

Description:

This guy was pretty beefy (3.5 inches long- within the 3-4 inch range common for their species) and hanging out in a residential area. The dog and I walked right over it on our nightly walk, dog didn't notice a thing. I've heard a few whirring frog calls here and there, so I was happy to find the source. It was surrounded by flying insects, so I hope it was able to feast after I stopped pestering it.

I identified it primarily by the stripe on its back and am pretty new to this whole thing, so if my diagnosis is incorrect, let me know!

Habitat:

Versatile: grasslands to agricultural settings to residential areas.
