Field Notes

Description:

A female web spider feeding on a small moth inside it's web. This species is common inside dark caves of Sabah. Psechrus curvipalpus may be it's ID. They are mostly light grayish brown in color, legs are striped black, black pattern marks on top of body, orange palps and orange underside abdomen. 12 mm - body length. It's web is mashed and tangled.

Habitat:

Under a wooden railing inside Gomantong Cave, on the way to Sukau, Lower Kinabatangan, Sabah.

Notes:

>>Map accuracy : 100m diameter. This species seems to thrive in this cave where there is an abundance of cave fauna, for example - cockroaches and centipedes. I spotted these spiders yesterday back in Madai Caves too.
