Looks more like a hickory <i>Carya</i> sp., as the nut husk is sectioned (the faint brown lines). Best fit is Mockernut Hickory <i>Carya tomentosa</i>.
I wondered if it was a walnut tree! It looks different from the ones I usually see at home though, which is only a few hours to the west of here.
