Field Notes

Description:

The goldenrod crab spider is one of the larger crab spiders, so named because it often lives on goldenrod. When living on white flowers, as this one on a shasta daisy, they excrete their yellow pigmentation. The females consume large amounts of fairly large insects in order to get enough protein to lay their eggs

Habitat:

On a shasta daisy

Notes:

I watched her off and on all afternoon, hoping to catch her with prey
