Description:

Gray and brown fly with a horizontal striped abdomen and 6 spots. The thorax has vertical stripes. These flies are hunters and prey on other flies

Habitat:

Juniper tree in backyard. "Native to Europe. Introduced in the early 1800s. Found in northeastern and western United States and adjacent Canada." - BugGuide
